Angry How do you get the shadow of this man's face?

I took a picture of this family and I want to remove the shadow on the man's face. I have Photoshop 7.0 and I dont have the option to use the shadow/highlight tool or the dodge tool. Can someone help me with this?

Re: How do you get the shadow of this man's face?

Why can't you use the dodge tool?
Anyways, you could try to convert your image to "Image"-"Mode"-"LAB", use the b-channel on "Luminosity"-mode and mask in just the dark areas.
After that heal away the edges and it should look fine.
Oh and I did some further curves adjustment at the end.

I don't Know where the dodge tool is. How do you make his face look the same shade? Its darker on the right side of his face and lighter on the left side.

shonte, Welcome to RetouchPRO Hope you enjoy your stay here and make lots of friends. Poke around, ask questions, have fun!

WOW, one post should suffice!

If you use Photoshop you can post fairly large pictures which are under 100k using the 'save for web' function in Photoshop as described here:
Size, Quality and/or Format your Attached Images.. (Click here)

How to attach Files/Images to your Posts or Threads:
(Click here)

If you want to post a larger resolution that is over 100K then you can host your image elsewhere and attach a link in the thread (as you did), but also please attach an under 100K version so the thread remains useful in the future, regardless of external links.

Just one of many methods using PS7

~~~Original~~~ Screen modes~~
Re: How do you get the shadow of this man's face?
make a good mask to separate shadow eg from green channel, then use curves in luminosity to lighten the region, then refine with healing & cloning & some d&b , then color correct...
