year. and what it means

can anyone tell me round about what year this photo was taken and what the man is wearing the photo was taken in glossop england we think?

Hello, I would guess around 1885 - 1900.

1815 till 1948. That´s what we call "Biedermeier" fashion from this time. No idea if there are an english word for this period.

It appears to be the same woman as in your other thread/picture. Once you crop to just the face, exactly the same. You may already know that, of course. But, as with many of my older relatives, it can be very hard to tell. In this case, all of the facial measurements are nearly identical.

1815? were there ANY photographs in 1815? Think it all began around 1825, though I may be wrong.

I think you are right. According to wikipedia: Nicéphore Niépce made the first permanent photograph in 1826.
