My first post. How can i change my pups pic into...

So i want to change the first picture(My puppy) into something simlair to the second picture. I am on a mac g4 that has a bunch of programs, it has photoshop cs4,
Adobe Illustrator CS4,Alien skin Eye Candy 5, Dream Suite, Photomatix Pro, and PhotoRetouch Pro. It's not my computer so i'm not really familiar with these programs just yet, i am familiar with photoshop cs2. Any links to tutorials for this would help. Also and any tips at all would be nice. Feel free to give me some examples

I'm going to have this printed up to a poster size for my living room.

1st picture is :

The first thing you will have to do is mask out the background so the dogs are separate
from the rest of the picture. then insert the dogs into what ever space background you decide to use.

Thank you I'm working on that now. Any advise on making the puppys look like the one in the second picture?

akamasha, Welcome to RetouchPRO Hope you enjoy your stay here and make lots of friends. Poke around, ask questions, offer help, have fun!

Use the cutout tool native to Photoshop (Filter>Extract)

Clean up leftover Grass (clone or healing brush)

Utilize a mask to refine the cutout and scenery (black to hide, white to show)

Put the doggies into wherever scene you want

Ideas:

The mountain scene is from 'zima' called "winter" Uploaded to sxc.hu by milan6

The other is just a simple OOB.. OOB Tutorial (Out of Bounds)
