Rope-style logotype

Hello,

I'm posting here because I'm out of skills to do what I need. I have to do a simple logotype connected with the topic given for my classes. My topic is climbing. I come up with the rope-style logo. I want that it will be as simple as file logo.png attached (I guess it is very good work) and in the same style.

File sthLikeThat.png is a sample of my view (I know that it is hard to say what this image shows so I attach file whatIMean.png too)

Please, can anyone help me in creating that stuff? By now I've only worked with retouching photos not creating graphic..

I'm unsure from what you posted just what it is you are trying to accomplish. But if you want a logo, I strongly suggest that you consider making it in Illustrator, rather than photoshop. Ok, you are now wondering why. If you want to be able to use this as a true logo, it is important that you be able to scale it to whatever size you need for multiple print usages. It is also important to be sure that it looks equally well in B&W as in color.

As far as making a rope look, that isn't terribly difficult to do. You can pretty much do it with some diagonal lines, and some shading. A good way to do it in illustrator, is to make a customer brush, so you can put it on a path.
