Help fixing glare, fingerprints on scanned img Hi there. I've been Googling around for a tutorial to help me fix this, but didn't find one. I started with the (much) darker image on the left, where you can see the glare/fingerprints/tape residue/something on the left hand side. (Also I don't have access to the original photo print to make a better scan.) I started goofing around to fix the rest of the picture, and got it to the lighter version on the right, which I think makes the picture better but obviously worsens the scanning artifacts (And I still think the picture in general looks hella orange - any advice on that would also be appreciated). Using Clone Stamp on the damaged background part isn't too hard, but I tried it on the hair and it just looked stupid. How would some of you go about making the original photo better AND taking care of the left side mess? Is there anything I can do with the photo from where I've taken it so far, or would it be better to start over from the original?

Re: Help fixing glare, fingerprints on scanned img TallulahJean, welcome back! I used levels and Selective Color to get close to the right skin tones. Copied the good side of the hair, pasted it, made a mask on the new hair layer, flipped it and free transformed to fit then painted black on the hair layer mask to hide what I didn't want showing... like over the ear and chin areas sharpened the Irises a bit, painted the lips black on a new soft light layer, adjusted opacity another new soft light layer and painted some skin colors around edge of face, adjusted opacity used the clone tool in darken mode to fix a couple places (like the bright area top left) healing brush for some minor spots sharpened whole image needs a lot more work as it is still blotchy and the new hair needs blending more , but with patience and more time you can do a much better job... this quickie is just to give you some ideas

Re: Help fixing glare, fingerprints on scanned img Well I copied the layer using screen blending mode, Then I used a curves adjustment layer Then I used a HSL adjustment layer to decrease the saturation I cloned out the left side of the photo
