Need to learn how to remove double chins using PS

Hey all,

So I have decided to learn how to remove my double chins using Photoshop.

Can you give me some steps or point me to some tutorials ?

Here is my first project !

http://h.imagehost.org/0871/101_0938.jpg

I also want to cover up the red tie sticking out from the collar and maybe even slim up my mid section. I am doing a diet plan right now to dramatically reduce my weight but until then I want to make my photos look as good as possible. I am willing to learn !!

This might help in your quest

do #1 first to learn how others did it.... then #2 to learn how you can do it

Re: Need to learn how to remove double chins using

I used:

  • copy from good parts, paste over bad parts and transform to blend in.
  • Heal Tool

You'll find detailed explanations on how to do it (and many other great techniques for minimizing this problem) following 0lBaldy's excellent tip to search the Forums...

A very light mid section slimming is there as well ... and was done by:
  • select, copy, paste on a new Layer and Transform.
Since a method that worked perfectly with one problem might not work at all on a different picture with a similar problem, it is very important to learn different techniques ... by, for example, "learning how others did it" ....

If, after trying, you still have problems, we are here to help you with 'step by step' instructions.

Wow that looks great. Can you tell me in a little more detail what you mean by

* copy from good parts, paste over bad parts and transform to blend in.

What exact function does that mean?

Here is an attempt, give me your opinions.

I think I need to darken up the lines along the chin and maybe add a bit of a shadow.

Attempt #2, looks much more natural

Attempt #3, just a quick fix along the jaw line on the right side

Re: Need to learn how to remove double chins using

Hi chronicelite,

the Liquify Filter is a great Tool but not the easiest to use particularly if the parts to be corrected are on a face and if the image to be corrected is a is on a 'busy' background.

In your correction 101_0938, beside the stretched pixels around your chin, you clearly see a double line around it... (Attachment 1)

101_0938-2 and 3 still have the stretched pixels, but look much, much better!

As for the other B&A pictures, the stretched pixels around the corrected area are very obvious and, together with the harder edge of the contour (Attachment 2) make the whole picture look 'tampered with' and not very real ...

Yeah After #2 isnt my best by far. But I felt like After #1 was still acceptable.

Re: Need to learn how to remove double chins using

I tried the it the fast way and just used the healing brush to remove the double chin. It looks pretty good. Running Noiseware helped remove some of the color noise generated by the low light. I think removing the light helps focus on the subject. The skin looked a little too hot so I added a hue/sat adj to shift it a little toward yellow.
Regards, Murray
