Changing Background Colour and Reflection Hi Everyone, I'm no photoshop wizard and have been slowly learning about retouching for my fashion photography. I'm trying to do something a bit different and I'm completely lost. I'm sure this is very simple if you know how!! I'm trying to recreate an effect where the background is black and there is a mirror effect underneath. The problem I have is there are so many small areas where the current white background needs selected. And as for the reflection effect I'm not sure where to start? I've attached a sample of what I'm trying to create and the picture I have to work with.... Many thanks in advance Alan

Re: Changing Background Colour and Reflection Sorry I should maybe have made that clearer. The black background with the white kart is what I want to copy. I have the black and silver kart on a white background and it needs to be on a black background.

Re: Changing Background Colour and Reflection ASM, welcome to RetouchPro. The Pen Tool along with the Quick Select tool in Photoshop will work very well to extract the car from the white background. Just duplicate the bg layer and use those tools to select and delete the white so that you are left with the car on a transparent bg. Next place a black solid layer under it. Then go back to the layer with the car on transparent bg and duplicate that layer. DoCtrl+Click on the layer to select the car, and Edit >Transform>Flip Vertical to flip the car 180 degrees repositioning if necessary to align the tires. Add a layer mask and select the gradient tool choosing the linear black to white gradient. With the mask active, drag the gradient tool from where the cars meet to the bottom or as much as you want of the bottom car to show as a reflection. You can use the Filter>Render> Lighting Effects to cast a spotlight to highlight a specific area. The sample you attached was low res and highly pixelated so I did not waste my time trying to do a clean selection of the car. However on a reasonable quality file using the tools suggested or others that you prefer, you should be able to get a quick and clean selection. Since you do not want to keep the orig bg, you can delete the bg in sections as you complete each partial selection, you do not need to select all of it at once. Regards, Murray
