Lost with this picture ¡Help!

Hi everyone,
It's been long since I've posted, but it is good to be back although I wish it was in a giving help note and not requesting it.
I have this picture which I cherrish. Yes it is me with my Dad.
I found the negative and I managed to scann it the best I could.
I want to print it and have it framed in a bigger size than normal but first I have to improve it.
I have tried all my limited skills allow. Adjusments, filters, the works. But haven't manage to obtain the most detail, color (in gray scale of course since it is a black and white film), contrast, resolution nor quality I hope for.
I was wondering if you, my teachers can put me in the right track.
Thanks trully,
Mosha

Re: Lost with this picture ¡Help!

Hi, I had a play with this. It would probably be worth trying to get a better scan. Anyway, I'm sure more experienced people will be able to help you properly, but my version is attached. Just levels adjustment, removing scratches and reducing noise, straightening and cropping. (I just noticed there are also scratches across the negative that need some sort of attention - I had thought it was my dirty screen!) Cheers.

Very nice work, thanks.
Can´t do a better scan, the original scan is at 1200 resolution and in .tif and .jpg formats.
I´ll give it a try. Did you get more detail just by adjusting levels?. I did that and couldn´t get more detail
Regards,
Mosha
