Help in enhancing writing on photo

Can anyone assist me with enhancing the writing on the attached photo. The sweatshirt belongs to my brother - and I am hoping that the writing on his sweatshirt may help me to locate him.

I would be grateful for any assistance.

K Louisa, welcome to RetouchPro. The T-Shirt is a Sun Microsystems T-Shirt. Your image is too small and of low resolution to decipher any of the smaller text on it.

Re: Help in enhancing writing on photo

Thank you for helping - I am not sure if it is a Sun microsystem shirt, because the letters look so different.
But I was hoping to increase the small writing somehow - and maybe find out a location.
I have attached the whole picture - Alan had sent it in an email, and it's the only size I have.

Re: Help in enhancing writing on photo

We're assuming you had to reduce the file to fit within this websites 100k size restriction. Can you crop (not reduce) the image so that only the logo is in frame: ie, make only the logo area 100k and then repost it. You could also try sending the picture to Sun's marketing department and ask them to identify the garment.

Thank you repairman.

I will sent the pic to microsystems and see if I get anywhere, before I ask for any more help. I will let you know.

Thank you

Re: Help in enhancing writing on photo

Hi everyone:

Sun microsystems came back and said that the shirt is not theirs. I am not sure how to enlarge just the logo to 100 k.

Re: Help in enhancing writing on photo

K Louisa, the data in this image indicates that the size of the original is 2304 x 1728 pixels which should be adequate to see all of the text clearly since it is in focus. The image you uploaded here is only about 1/40th of the size of the original. That may be because it was downsized when you uploaded it or it is possible that the file he sent you was downsized already. To see what size the file actually is, if you have Photoshop do a File>Image>Image Size and check the actual size in the dialog box.
If the file is only 400 x 300 pixels like the one you uploaded, it will be almost impossible to decipher the small text. As for it being a Sun Micro T-Shirt or not, I have attached a sample and you can find a million Sun logos just like it on the net. The logo, the name Sun and below it the word Microsystems seems to have the same positioning and proportions as the one you uploaded. Blue is also a standard Sun color. However it is possible that the log is someone elses.

I would just reply to his email and ask him where he is. He may tell you.

To AArtist:

thank you - but I tried - and his email is no longer in effect. Our mother has passed and I thought he may need to know and he also need to sign some documents for the estate.
My brother immigrated from Germany in the early 1980s and later became a citizen and has changed his name, and I have no idea what it is and immigration does not help.
So - it's not so easy.
Thanks for the idea.

To MISTERMONDAY:

thank you so much for your troubles. I checked the pic I have and the original is only 400x300.
It was just a shot in the dark.
I will keep searching for him. My brother always lived fast and hard - so I'm thinking he is either in Vegas or somewhere in CA - slose to a casino.

So - again thank you so much to everyone trying to help.

Re: Help in enhancing writing on photo

I doubt that Sun Microsystems could positively identify this as their shirt or not. Having worked in that same industry, T-shirts were a common thing to get printed up with additional wording for events/celebrations/etc. It is true that others are selling these T-shirts too outside of Sun Microsystems and I have no clue if they are licensed to do so. (in other words, you can get these shirts if you are an employee or not).

In any case, if you think there is a chance that your brother worked at Sun Microsystems, call up their corporate headquarters. For this type of company they have the listing of all employees and phone numbers. They will not give you the phone number yet would be glad to connect you if the person is still an employee.

If you want to take it to the next level and you believe your brother did work at Sun Microsystems, ask to be connected to Human Resources and explain your situation. I am sure they will do what they can.

Note that Sun Microsystem's has been purchased by Oracle and employees no doubt end up with opportunities across the entire Oracle organization over time. They still should be able to find out if your brother works at Oracle (of which Sun Microsystems is part) at present.

Worth a shot. Good Luck
