How to get this effect? Marion Cotillard for DIOR

Hey everyone, this is my first post on these forums. This is looking like a great place to learn from. I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this, admins feel free to move this if necessary.

I've been staring at this picture of Marion Cotillard for Dior for so long now trying to figure out the steps used to create this "cinematic" "illustrative" look. It almost looks more like a comic book illustration than a photo and I absolutely LOVE this kind of look.

The only thing I've been able to come up with is desaturation, lower contrast, colorize the shadows, dodge selected highlight areas, burn selected shadow areas.. but is there some kind of recipe or filter for the illustrative effect, for the porcelain skin?

What do you guys think?

RuralJuror, welcome to RetouchPro and congratulations on your first post. The image looks very much like it has gone through Split Toning. If you have Photoshop, open an image in Camera RAW and use the split toning panel.
Regards, Murray

I would guess dodge and burn for the skin as it still seems organic, and not like it has undergone a one filter treatment.

I like it very much, as I also am very fond of the illustrative look in ads.
