Removing flash induced wall-shadow from Easter pic

Hi - we just had our Easter pics done for my daughter with a local photographer and though it seemed she had the right equipment in place, we ended up with shadows in some of the pictures. I would really like to remove the shadow in this picture - can someone please help or guide me on how to do this

Re: Removing flash induced wall-shadow from Easter

Select the background with the magic wand and clone out the shadow.

Re: Removing flash induced wall-shadow from Easter

I have very limited photo editing skills in Picasa. Can I do this in Picasa and if yes please provide a bit more instruction. Thanks.

Re: Removing flash induced wall-shadow from Easter

1 Clone in lighten mode.
2 Paint by sampling the lighter part of the background.
3. Make a selection, mask, then invert and nudge until shadow is gone.

Re: Removing flash induced wall-shadow from Easter

I made a blank layer
fill with same color as background
mask your picture of the baby and lower part of the picture
That will give you the new background

A golden glow all over.

Re: Removing flash induced wall-shadow from Easter

Thank you so much for your help everyone! I put the image back in picasa and warmified it and now the image again looks just like the other ones from the photo shoot (not so bright) - this process of removing the shadow had brightened the pic quite a bit.

Could I trouble you for help for just one more because I'd like to send some pics to get printed today and I can tell from these steps that it will take some practice for me to figure out how to do this on my own - huge please and thanks!

Talking Re: Removing flash induced wall-shadow from Easter

Here is my before and after... great ideas... I selected the outline of the baby with the shadow side and moved the selection over to the left > feathered it > copy to a new layer and move back into position.. I also used a photo filter to take out some the pink reflection from the carpet and also shadow/highlights to bring back some detail in the beautiful dress..
