Question Blotch Skin -- Help!

Hi Everyone, I try to avoid using frequency separation as much as possible. I usually opt for a lot of dodge and burn, however, how do you personally retouch blotchy skin (see below) when you have very limited time per image? (retouching a whole set.)

Thanks!

Re: Blotch Skin -- Help!

Five minutes
1 dup
2 invert
3 vivid light blend
4 filter-high pass radius to smooth out 16
5 Gaussian blur increase the radius to see skin
1/2 of high pass approximately
6 paint on mask

Why you wanna avoid frequency separation? Very easy and probably the FASTEST way to fix this is the frequency separation just use middle layer. That's all.

The only thing you should avoid is the INVERTED HIGH PASS thing. Always noticeable and not so nice.

This is exactly the inverted high pass but the Gaussian blur value is bad.
The right number is 1/3.

Re: Blotch Skin -- Help!

To keep it natural I just used a curves layer to replace most of the dark skin spots. With curves you can choose a replacement color for the dark skin areas.

Then paint in on a mask. This will get rid of a lot but a few clicks with the spot healing brush will finish is quickly.
