It would help if you could understand the image. The saturation in Robmac's version was not lower than your reference.

It's mainly the fine details that need it.

How create a white skin like in the reference? How modify the brightness of head? Can you help me? How can i go ?
Thanks a lot,

Re: How create this render?

There are a lot of subtle matching issues to these things that do not align well with your goal of an automated workflow. Let's see you get it to something like this. You still have to recognize things like the cheek color offset or that the nose was too bright initially relative to the rest of the image. You still have to emphasize definition with burn/dodge work.

As sloppy as it is (and this is the sloppiest retouching work imaginable), this required masks for irises, scleras (whites of the eyes), lips, and skin. As things started to line up, I noticed problems and discrepancies. For example the pupils aren't the same due to camera and lighting differences. They rendered too dark in your shot, so they had to be brought up a bit. I added about 3% noise although I rarely go over 1% noise. This was to get the right feeling of roughness. The noise itself often comes out too "large" in photoshop, so I would normally make it on a separate layer and scale it down if necessary.

If you want to make any progress, you need to learn to recognize this stuff by comparing your results to the reference. At some point you need to either treat the image as an iterative process and try this for yourself, give up, or accept the results that can be obtained through partly automated methods (such as the ones Tulack uses).

I can post my layers if you like, but I wan you they're sloppy (as are the masks if you can call them that).

If I was working on something like this to completion, it wouldn't have much in the way of curves layers at the end. Right now it has one s-curve as a quick and dirty way of getting a bit more midtone and highlight skin contrast. Some of the regional burn/dodge work would provide the necessary separation in a final draft, so I wouldn't need them.

Re: How create this render?

Hi Klev,
thanks you for your long and interessant reply.
Curently i don't know what i want to do and in fact i have to create an automated workflow.
I don't very know photoshop and i prefer to diverge into lightroom but is not the solution.
I retain all your notes and i go to try.

Your render is very interesting, i love the created emotion!
It can possible to have the .cube or the psd? I would like to reflect it.

Thanks again for your time, your interesting and your knowledge. You are very great.

Thibault
