Haze

I work with black and white photos. Every once in a while I get a photo that, when lightened, creates a cloud like image. The photo does not properly lighten it gets hazy and looks better dark. Does anyone know any tricks to help this?

Thank you!

Welcome Brianna;

Can you make a side by side picture and send an example? Also do you scan the picture into the computer or is it a digital photo?

Brianna,

Are you by any chance using the brightness control to lighten your pictures?

Not brightness

We are using the actual level adjustment not contrast/ brightness. We primarily just changing the midtones (middle slide adjuster).
Thanks

Brianna -- are you still around?

Is the problem you describe similar to the problem with the photo in this challenge? We really need information in order to help.
