I'm going to research the formats via the link you suggested.
I've got InDesign, Illustrator and Quark... will experiment with all of them.
I found some templates for ID and QE via some searches on the web as well.

Creating Grunge Brushes
Also try Adobe Studio Exchange as they have several Grunge Brush sets and actions.
For books, check out PhotoShop 7: Mastering Artistic Design published by Muska & Lipman. Don't forget to check out the used books at Amazon.com and Ebay's Half.com for better book prices.
