Cracks, cracks and more cracks

This is a photo of my wife's grandmother (on the left) taken in 1940.

As you can see, it's a horrible nightmare of tiny (and some not so tiny) cracks.

I've tried a few different methods of trying to remove or reduce them, but I'm not terribly experienced at this yet and have not been terribly satisfied with my results so far. Most everything I have done have resulted in blurring what little detail that there is in the first place.

I'm constantly amazed and what you people have been able to do with other examples, and I was hoping to get some pointers and possibly some quick samples of crack removing techniques that I could try to apply to this photo.

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt, ran your image through Polaroid Dust and Scratches Filter, and results were quite good. It gives you a position to start from at any rate. It's a free download, and comes with a plug-in for Photoshop. Sorry, but I can't remember the site for the download, but I know that either Flora or Doug posted a link. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I've downloaded both the Decrack action and the Poloroid scratch filter but won't have a chance to play with them until later tonight or tomorrow.
