What is this?

When I use the distort filter>displace, with my own grayscale image as the map, strange writing appears. My images are used ONLY. Why do the words appear?
thanks

Displacement map files must either be flattened or saved with a composite image. My guess is that yours wasn't flattened and didn't have a composite image (a save option).

Appears that the "maximize compatibilty" box is unchecked in the File Handling dialog under preferences (PS7). I'm not sure where the text is showing up but assume it's not in PS proper but rather another viewing program.

That's about all I know about that one... except when you turn Max Compatibility on it takes a loooonnng time to save a 400MB layered file.
