Yes the background still botheres me too, I know I'll work on it more before I show it to the customer, can't help myself I have to keep at things till I'm happy with it. :-)
I did that with the eyes. :-) I may do it with some more of his skin to replace some of the missing parts.
I think from the original he's sitting on a table with a cloth cover, I can just make out some folds of cloth. I may work on that part as well as the background. I can't overwork it to make it look like a modern photo because I'm sure that would destroy the historical feel of it
