Feathered-Edge Border - Pls. Look and HOW?

Can someone tell me how this person achieved this look? I know how to do the feathered edge border, but if you look closely, it almost looks beveled.

Can anyone explain? I use Photoshop 7.

Thanks!
Christine

Here's the picture: (I deleted the center image b/c it's not important).

Hello Christine,

I guess this person really does use the emboss-feature and then feathers the edges. That seems to be the most logical explanation

Christine:

There are probably several ways to do this. The approach I took was to hack an existing action. I think I get pretty close.

Rather than trying to describe it here in detail (that would take a long, long time to writeup), send me an e-mail via my profile (click my name above) and I'll reply with this action attached. You can try it and ask questions based on that.

By studying the action steps you'll see how effect was achieved.
