I would say yes, but it depends on the level of correction and enhancement you are trying to achieve. There's probably very severe limits.

Chris, Dave,

here is an example of what can be done with a newspaper scan:

Used the FFT filter to minimize the dots, and proceded, then, as in a normal restoration job ....

P.S. I concentrated on the girl's face only...

I believe Flora uses a FFT filter that is a Photoshop plugin that she got from here

For how to use it click here

Hi everybody,

... about the FFT Filter... it is exactly as T Paul said and, using her link to the 'how to use it' you can get to that whole Thread which makes a very interesting reading if you want to experiment with the Filter.

....about FFT .... well, this goes far beyond my knowledge ... When I first heard of it, I did an Internet search for it and thought I'd landed in another planet!! ... What I managed to understand is that FFT is:
"an algorithm to convert a set of uniformly spaced points from the time domain to the frequency domain."

Algorithm which can be used for image processing as well .... "This is a method for processing images by transforming them into a form where they can be easily manipulated, making the changes and then converting them back. This is analogous to the way that Laplace Transforms are used in solving differential equations. There is a variety of different transforms which can be used in processing images but by far the most common is the Fast Fourier Transform or FFT and we will discuss only this."

.... and this was it ... never really tried it until Roland showed how to!!!!

Legacy~,

... not that clever ... after all ....
