| | help please!! Hi, I am new here and I am doing a report for school on the media's portrayal of body image. I am looking for some before and after retouch shots of men and women. my point is to prove to my audiance that the cover of magazines are misleading women and men to think that the covers/media portray perfect beauty, when in acuality these images are retouched. at any rate i have been surfing the net trying to find images to get my point across--to no avail. i found a few good face shots but my next point is to show how the body is alterd as well. if anyone has any good sites or ideas to help me locate some dramatic images to get my point across, i would be eternally greatful. thanks so much...julie |

| | | my mind is churning new ideas!! I had not even thought about the concept of detouching. heck until last week i new nothing about this stuff. i was sitting in class and when she asked us to pick a topic for some reason i ended up with this idea in my mind. it's probably because i am 30 and recently went back to school and witness these younger people and their idea of beauty. at any rate thanks so much for putting another idea into my head that i can run with. i still would like to get a hold of a pic of a "beautiful" man and or women the way they are on the cover of a magazine but also one the way they are in real life...this along with your detouching idea should get my point across. i think i want the class to really have this stuck in there heads...thanks so much for the help i sincerely appreciate it...julie |

| | | still searching Thanks for the post Janet. I can use some of this but i am still haveing a hard time finding just the right photo. My mind is in view of a before and after shot one of a male and one of a female in which retouching has taken them from your average body to a glamourus one...since this is much of what the media does to make men and women strive to look like what they see on mags and ads..does this make sense? i started this project just looking into what the idea of beauty was then i realized that the media plays a huge role when men and women feel horrible about their bodys due to what the media portrays as sexy and glamourus. my spelling is horid today!! any help anyone can give me will be much appreciated. i have created a slide presentation thus far with some head shots, (before and after) and i have a few slides of the covers of mags but now i am stuck because i want to drive my point home with a final image of the entire body and how most of us are average (normal)....i hope i am makeing sense...thanks so much i still have 2 weeks to come up with just the right stuff...thanks..julie |
