Hi,
I'm pretty new here but could use your help. I'm currently working for a restoration company specializing in fire and mold losses. From time to time we get in heirloom quality photos as well as snapshots in wedding and baby albums that have been damaged to the point that normal restorative methods won't work. I've already talked to the main people within the company about offering digital photo restoration and they are interested enough in the idea to ask me to write up a proposal.
Now my problem is, I don't know where to start.
I'm not sure what the going "rates" are although I have done some research on the web and most of what I saw was broken down to the amount of damage had occurred.
Is there a special scanner type that needs to be used? My understanding is that as long as you can scan in at over 300 ppi you're fine because you will be able to print at up to 1200 dpi... photo quality.
Another thing is printing, I imagine that with a small amount of business coming from this I would probably want to send out rather than doing printing in house.
The final thing that comes to mind is software. I currenty use an ancient version of photoshop, 5 to be honest

is cs2 going to be difficult for me to learn?
Oh yeah, yet another... what is a reasonable budget?
$200 for scanner
$500 for CS 2?
$300 for graphics monitor
$1000 total, is this realistic? too much... too little?
Any other thoughts/ ideas, etc. would be wonderful!
Thanks,
Christine
