Input/Output/Workflow - - Prints too dark at CVS

Hi, I fixed up a picture for my aunt and printed it on some glossy paper I have laying around. The toning was fine, but my Epson R340 was banding pretty bad so I took the file to CVS. I got a nice, clear print, but the tone was a lot darker than I wanted and what I see on my screen. (I have a 20 inch intel iMac.) FYI, when I print at home, I keep the print settings normal, if I switch to glossy or photo paper in the print dialogue, I also get a darker output. This is really perplexing. Do I need to drastically increase the brightness in photoshop to get the pics to print the way I want them? The levels are good, so I don't think I want to play with that anymore. Any advice on this issue would be great. Thanks.

d/l the correct profile for your paper from Espons site and try the printing the image again...

You could be banding because the file is not structured correctly. If you want to print to a 4x6, you have to make sure the size is 4x6. Trying to print a 3504x2336 file at 300 dpi usually results in horrendous 4x6 prints for me on my Epson printer. When I resize them to 1800x1200 at 300dpi OR just up the dpi to 600, it usually helps.

I had the same problem with my Epson R300. In Photoshop, select File->Print with Preview. When the window opens, check the Print Space setting. I use Same As Source. It's my understanding the this will instruct the operating system (in my case Windows XP) not to translate the file before sending it to the printer. Good Luck!
