How to take stills of of video

I have tons of video tape of my family events, some are on DV and others of plain old VHS. I have tried to take stills off the tapes for re-print but usually the quality stinks. Does anyone have any suggestions on a program to do that with some type of quality? I have used Topaz Moment with some success.

Re: How to take stills of of video

Hi Marni, a big part of the problem is that the quality of VHS images is pretty poor to begin with. The frames are low in pixel count. I use Roxio Easy Media Creator to capture the VHS through my All in Wonder video card. I use the highest quality setting then use the Video Wave editor that is part of the Roxio suite to take a still shot. Depending on the VHS quality the images come out looking reasonable, but you will rare get probably can't expect a digital camera quality.
Regards, Murray

Re: How to take stills of of video

Thanks Murray

Happy New Year!!! I will check into that program also. You can try Topaz as a free download also if you want.

I ended up buying my monitor today, I searched for the ViewSonic VP930B and just could not find it anywhere, until this morning! I was going to get the more expensive one, VP2030b and was having a stroke over the price of over 400$. Anyway, this morning I found one that was open box and priced at 320$ The warantee is the same, 3 years so I am a happy camper.

Do you think I will still need the Huey or the spyder?

Take Care
Marni
