Ok, that's your prerogative. Since the rest of us are trying to be serious though, would you please take your clowning elsewhere. Sure the world needs it's clowns, but there's a time and a place for everything... and this is neither.

...and hopefully this won't be time wasted but rather time well spent, that depends solely on the participation and help of RP's members. This will become what we make it, nothing more and nothing less.

hey DXM,
sorry man, just messing with you. but hey, imho (in my humble opinion) i used to be a complete PS noob (photoshop newbie). And yes i did wish there was at that time a thesaurus like the one you're trying to build right now. but hey, as i got really interested in that matter, i just learnt it. and i can't say it took me yeaars, it was just matter of a few weeks, maybe couple of months... and the numbers of abreviations is not thaat overwhelming.
but well, good luck with ur project, this is a fair one and it's quite generous of you. peace mate

No, sorry man. I am bad with that - read a post, then reply - not thinking there's an entire list of response below. It was re a post that very much stated the obvious, but i'm not trying to be rude - maybe just a joke in bad taste. This is actually becoming a useful thread. My apologies.

BTW(by the way), I'm interested to know, what does DXM stand for?

My contribution:
S/H - Shadow/Highlight
HP - Hi-Pass
IS - Image Size

thanks for both the contribution, the apology and the praise.

my Handle DXM is a kind of semi-abbreviation and actually stands for Deus eX Machina. basically meaning God in the machine or as it was used originally "god in a box".

It was used in ancient theater when the actors got lost or it was obvious that the audience had lost the plot completely. An actor or the leader of the troupe called for Deus ex Machina, subsequently a box was brought to the one who had called it whereas he summarized the plot so far. that's what I was taught as a kid anyway, it has also been used as way of describing the ebb and flow of the internet and it's sometimes scary semblance of intelligence and sentience...

damn I ramble when I get started.

I got the nickname as an RPG gamemaster for my talent to summarize and simplify a plot if someone came late or missed a session.

Oops! Sorry, I fell victim to the same thing that Soul of Kilik mentioned -- replying before reading later posts. Thus, I didn't realize you two had already made up. My bad.

Here's one that I picked up by reading the "Diagonal Pixel ..." thread:

FFT = Fast Fourier Transform -- a filter that, among billions of other things, is used to eliminate/minimize repetitive patterns in images like honeycomb pattern or moiré
