scanning

can any one give me some advice on scanning. i scan a lot of B&W images and i have a real problem with surface mark on old black&white images .any sugestions on how to reduce them
can they be filltered out in photoshop 5 ?

Hi Dave! Welcome to RetouchPro.

If possible, could you attach an example of the surface marks? (make sure it's less than 100k)
