emailed photos come out diffrent colors?

so new to the photoshop world and im pretty sure what im dealing with is color space (which i dont understand)... i watched a tutorial on photoshopTV i think and it said if you email a photo to put it in sRGB if you want the colors to come out... well i save the file like that on my computer and then email it out and it comes out diffrent... i can open the file i saved and it looks right... then i can open the file in the email on the same computer and it looks different? anyone know why this is? can some one give me crash course in color space or point me to where i can find one? i would like to start getting prints and stuff done of pictures im working on and would like them to come out good... and i hear AdobeRGB is the way to go but depends on where you print?
