CS5 Scanner Access Problem When I first installed Photoshop CS5 I had to find a twain file for it for CS5 to recognize my Epson Perfection 1660 scanner. I put it in the plug-ins import-export folder and I was able to scan from CS5. Recently there was an upgrade to CS5 and Bridge and that is the only reason I can figure out that I can't access my scanner. Here's a picture of the error message I get both in CS5 and CS4: http://www.pbase.com/isabel95/image/126911319 Has anyone else had this problem. (I have checked my cable)

Re: CS5 Scanner Access Problem Thanks for the input. I knew about the CS5 additional add-ons and had installed the twain file and it worked perfectly UNTIL the latest PS update - I can only associate the problem with that. Isabel

Re: CS5 Scanner Access Problem Decided to try pulling the usb connection from the back of the scanner (because it's hard to get to my cpu case) and replug it. Went through a boot up sequence and then worked through CS5. Isabel

Re: CS5 Scanner Access Problem Isabel, I've just been using the Epson Scan software since I got CS5 and the Twain was not working. The Adobe site listed some potential problems and also stated this - Important: TWAIN is an older technology that is not regularly updated to new operating systems. There are issues running TWAIN directly in Photoshop CS5 and CS4. We strongly suggest that if you need to use TWAIN in Photoshop CS4 on Mac OS, that you install and use it under Rosetta OS. We also suggest that you scan your images using another scanning application or the application that ships with your scanner, if there is one, then save the scanned files as TIFF files, and open them into Photoshop CS5 or CS4. I don't honestly remember if that notice is what made me just try the Epson Scan again or not, but it might explain why you are having some problems. I'm just sticking with Epson for now, but hope you get your Twain working again. Or maybe it IS working again - when you said rebooted and "worked through CS5"?

Re: CS5 Scanner Access Problem Also, I’m pretty sure TWAIN will not run on any OS or application running in 64-bit.

Re: CS5 Scanner Access Problem I'm using 32 bit with the Adobe twain file that came with the package of optional plug-ins for CS5 that you can download from Adobe. Worked fine after I reset the usb cable.
