Problem with ATI Radeon Drive Update

I should have followed my own advice never to install a video driver update - always some sort of aggravation, yet when the Windows Updater popped up I decided to accept the update. Guess I was temporarily brain dead.

I have NEC 2690 wide gamut monitor which Firefox DISPLAYED pretty nicely - it's more color managed than the non-managed Chrome or IE...and when I opened it up after this misbegotten update, my colors were back to garish and oversaturated.

What do I do?

How do I get back to the previous driver?

Would it be on the disk that came with my Dell XPS 420?

I hate video drivers!!!!!

Oh...I use a Gretag MacBeth Eye One Display 2 colorimeter to calibrate my NEC 2690 wide gamut monitor with Nec's Spectravision software.

If you are running windows xp service pack 2 or higher you can go to device manager click on the plus sign next to display adapter, it will show you your video card. right click on the video card go to properties, on the window that opens choose the driver tab, look for the button third from the bottom that says rollback driver. click on that and it should replace the driver with what you had before the upgrade.

Rollback for some reason was grayed out. I wound up doing a system restore and now Firefox has better color. thanks for the input.

Windows 7 also still offers "rollback driver" as an option.

Using Vista. took me long enough to get used to it and like it, so I have no plans of changing! :-) thanks for the input, however.

Did you get the driver rolled back, Isabel? If XP and W7 offer the option, then Vista does also. We don't want Louie, Beegie, and Ricky looking "garish"!!

For some reason that option was grayed out - as though the driver had not been updated but I knew it had been. I was able to roll it back via a system restore. Thanks!
