Pro Flatbed Scanners

I am looking for a flatbed scanner to replace an old one in an in-house prep department. I am looking for a Pro level scanner. I have seen that Kodak is no longer selling the iQsmart line so I figure it is a matter of time before they drop software and part support. Anybody with experience on a high-end machine that they can recommend?
Ideally I am looking for a scanner that will last and be supported for several years to come. We have a Fujiscan 5000 right now which still works well. It is just getting on in years and we have no place to find parts/support should it break down. It is also running on the oldest Mac in the building because it's software will not run on newer machines.

Re: Pro Flatbed Scanners

I just talked to someone that told me Kodak was no longer making any of the high end scanners. Which is a bummer because everyone has such great things to say about the Scitex machines. I know I could get one second hand but with Kodak dropping the manufacturing I know it's a matter of time before support and updates get dropped too.

Thanks for your reply.

Re: Pro Flatbed Scanners

We have the same machine(well two the same but one is for spares ).
I think that is the way to go if you can manage it as the scan quality is excellent, have one that is the working machine, and one that is the parts machine. They are quite big(about a 3 feet by 4 feet footprint and around 18 to 20 inches in height), so we have a purpose built bench and the parts machine sits under it while the working machine sits on it. I work from home so the space was an issue for me and I ummed and aahed about getting such a large machine but it was worth it if for being able to offer the larger format.
