Looking for idiot proof ftp transfer method! HELP! Hey All... I've been getting requests to retouch images for non-computer savvy people. Explaining how to access my ftp account seems way too complicated for them and services like Dropbox and Yousendit are limiting. Does anyone have suggestions for a simple user-friendly option for transferring files that will allow for security, size, and speed? I would love to have a Dropbox style function on my webserver but haven't found that yet. Thanks... David

Re: Looking for idiot proof ftp transfer method! H Post to your website in a secure folder. Give your users the password to get into that folder. Then they can just navigate thru a www link to the folder/file & a simple click to download it. I do this all the time & computer novices don't seem to have a problem as the browser takes care of the details when it propts to 'open' or 'download' the file

Re: Looking for idiot proof ftp transfer method! H I have been searching for an easy solution. Honestly, I'm not a programmer, and I talked to friends about designing an interface to make use of Amazon's Simple Storage Service, but the whole thing just seemed like it was going to suck up too much time or money. I've been playing around with this service now and I really like it so far. They give you 10 GB free storage for 90 days: http://www.exavault.com/ There are some others that offer similar services but the interface on this one seems to be the best: easy to use, and no-nonsense. You can create a "sharespace" for a specific folder and then add a client as a contact. The client then receives an email with a link. The link opens a page in the browser with that specific folder. From there, they can download (and upload if you specify) with the click of a button, much like uploading your photos to Flickr or something, but much faster. I've uploaded 500 photos, each about a MB, averaging about 650 kb/sec to test it, with no noticeable slow-down of browser performance. That is one easy solution.
