If you trimmed the paper white, the two would be the same. Or perhaps, the profile was faulty (scum dot, something I've seen with MonacoPROFIELR profiles). Or the proofing paper had a darker white than the original paper. Lots of possibilities. Bottom line is, the two are identical expect for how white is handled. And the idea here is to simulate the color on the proofing paper to match the original stock.
