Re: Photoshop ACR and Exposures

Thanks. Without firing up CS3, I am using whatever was the max version of ACR that was applicable to CS3. Would certainly like an updated version but thanks to Adobe, that means now, getting CC (which will not happen) and or up-grading the computer and OS, both of which would be nice but Adobe will not give me the money!

I do have a trial CS6 but really don't like the user interface. Hey Ho!

If you were on either OSX or Linux I would say darktable. You could always do that via a debian or ubuntu virtual machine, and it would cost you 0. It's quite a bit of effort though. Capture One would set you back less money than an upgrade. As Andrew mentioned, Lightroom is another good option.

Re: Photoshop ACR and Exposures

Klev,

Thanks for the suggestions. As you notice, I am a PC guy; I did try Linux on my VM but have to admit that my first impressions were not good. Frankly, I don't see what all the hoopla is about Linux.

But hey ho ........

I have done some testing and find that with my bracketed exposures, I can find one that is not clipping the highlights, and boost the image brightness via a combination of exposure and brightness sliders.

The alternative is, using whichever is the best exposure that requires least exposure/brightness boost and use one of the underexposed originals to do a luminosity blend.
