Matte Paper or Printer problem??

Hi,

I have a friend that is having problems with matte paper printing on her Epson printer. She used to do it all the time with no problem. She can print on glossy paper with no problem. Here is what she posted in our group:

"After many many tests this am. I found out that things print
fine on plain paper and glossy photo but heavy weight matte is terrible! I
have tried all diff. settings including what I used to use and I still can't
get a decent print. I use matte paper 90% of the time so I am at a loss. Any
one else use the Epson 1270? I couldn't get any satisfactory answeres from
the Epson group and I have so many caldendars I intended to print for Xmas.
If you dn't have the 1270 but have an Epson maybe you could check the
settings you use for matte paper."

After seeing some threads discussing matte paper, I thought maybe one of you could help or lead me to information concerning this problem. She has updated drivers for her printer and has Windows XP.

Thank you!

Problem already solved!!

Oh, boy, I posted this, went to the other group and found she had solved her problem!

You had two other default printers in the Control Panel. Deleting them, solved the problem.

Merry Christmas to all!

Sorry, the problem is back:-(

I should have waited, before posting. I just didn't want any of you to be wasting your time, but now she says that when the print job reached the faces, it started printing weird again.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Maryarena

Problem solved

I read somewhere in this forum that there are different types of matte paper, so I asked my friend, if she had recently bought another type of Epson paper. She went to the store and bought another type of Epson matte paper and viola, it now is working fine. Her printer, didn't like the last type of matte paper she had bought.

I use a 1270, and heavyweight matte is my favorite paper. Perhaps she's unhappy because matte images look very different from glossy images? Could we get further details on why she's unhappy?

Hi, Doug,

She had never had problems printing with this printer on matte paper, so she knew the results she was expecting and couldn't figure out why this was happening.

The problem was solved by going and buying new paper. Updating drivers, removing the printer, etc. did not work. She bought her last batch at Wal Mart and it seems it was not the type that she used before. Now she's using the Satin type (Epson) and it's working fine.

Have a great day!
