Re: ftp

pixel monkey,

i don't see "Manage FTP Users" after click "settings". the icons i see are:

account login, domain management, frontpage ext, 404 error behavior, change domain name, dns manager and ssl. no "manage ftp users." maybe you have different type of service. that's ok, i will use "online file folder" for now. i just want to send a link; clients sign in and upload. simple

ratz,

thanks. it's a temporary website. i am in the process of redoing my site.

Re: ftp

I see. Your plan must be running on Window server then. Call Godaddy and ask them to switch you over to Linux. It gives you an additional 10 FTP accounts. Linux also supports PHP. You might not need PHP now, but if you're going to build a more sophisticated website, chances are you'll need a server that supports PHP. What you have going on with your clients works just fine though.

Re: ftp

thanks, pixel monkey. very useful info. i'll look into this. what hosting plan do you have with godaddy? i have a "Deluxe Plus Hosting" plan which is $10/month. not sure if "manage ftp users" is part of this plan.

Re: ftp

Not sure why you have to pay $10/month. The deluxe plan is under $7 even on a month to month basis. GoDaddy also has coupon codes all over the web. Do a search on Google next time you renew and you could get it for $5/month. I just checked my order history and I paid $60.44 for the whole year for the deluxe. I also noticed that they've increased my storage space from 100 gigs to 150 gigs. Boy...that's a lot of storage space. Your plan comes with 10 extra FTP accounts on Linux server.

Re: ftp

i just realized that i logged in with a different account (toan) by accident that i signed up 4 years ago. i didn't even remember it. maybe i should switch back to it so i wouldn't look like a newbie

$10/month was the original price long time ago. i just need to talk to them and switch my plan. i'll talk to them about the linux server. i am very glad told me about this matter.

Re: ftp

I noticed that, too. Wish I remembered the password to the account I created back in 2002. Glad I could help.
