Re: SEO Basics

SEO is a dying industry. Google (the only search engine that matters) has taken enough steps so that SEO tricks don't really help.

The #1 consideration for ranking, aside from relevant content, is the pagerank of the pages that link to your site. The number of links to your site is irrelevant.

Here are some links to help you:

http://tools.seobook.com/
http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/

And, of course, all the forums for those sites.

Re: SEO Basics

Affiliate programs are generally a waste of your time (that's polite talk for "ripoff").

Try webhostingtalk.com to find a good hosting company. They'd also be a better spot to answer questions along these lines.

Re: SEO Basics

Uberhost.net is a great host. As far as SEO goes, SitePoint and DigitalPoint will be two forums you should consider looking into.

Re: SEO Basics

SEO is alive and well and still very important. Check google for sites devoted to it.
