Best way? I don't know but I've linked to the tutorials I've used in my slide show.

Personally I enjoy the competitive element of honing my skills by participating in contests here and at Flickr (Weekly Photoshop Contest group and the Make It Interesting Challenge group)

Re: Best way to learn photoshop?

Hello and welcome SHS

personally what i know about photoshop i learnt both from this forum and the web trying all manner of tuts ( and stil do )

if you google for ps video's there are a lot of free ones out there to try and then perhaps see where you need to improve on and go for that,

here is a list i found of 20+ sites that have videos (googled)

maybe members giving advice on what to learn might be a bonus, i would say learn about masks and layers ( but have fun trying some tuts out )

and know that the most expensive thing is TIME

For $100, you can get 4 months of lynda.com. They have great tutorials.

You can also view videos on any software, for example: Excel, Word, Indesign, Flash, Dreamwever ....

Re: Best way to learn photoshop?

I've purchased several books, have done the Lynda video's, used free tutorials on the net, hung out on various sites like this one and just dinked. Just like anything else...practice makes perfect....well...maybe not perfect, but comfortable. Good luck.
