Retouching courses UK

Hi everyone,

For the last few weeks I've been looking for professional retouching courses in the UK, but haven't found what them yet.

I've worked in a retouching studio some years ago. When the company had to let go all the employees because the biggest client didn't resign I ended up in a call centre

Now that I finally quit that job I'm working on my portfolio full time. I really need some training to get me started again and get a professional view on the progress of my portfolio.

Any recommendations on good training centres?

There are none.
Go through leBook and find the retouching houses and apply for work experience email and phone them. Working in the enviroment and meeting clients and seeing how the prints are made etc...is the only way you'll learn.

Garnet01: Thank you for the link! It's very usefull.
I will contact company's but I just don't won't to approach them too soon. If my portfolio is too small they will close their door never to open it again? Or is this being to cautious? I have mostly beauty retouches in my portfolio now and would like some product and car retouches before I go job hunting. What's your opinion?

Quim: Thanks for the link, I had seen it allready and it seems a great workshop but I'm not sure if I have 520 pounds to spend on a 2 days course right now... and work on an Imac and not a laptop.

Repairman: I live near York but wouldn't mind to travel to do a one on one training and/or portfolio assessment.

Just be completely honest with the people, you can learn photoshop but it's impossible to learn enthusiasm. You'll have to come down to London, I know three or four studios with people working on the spare macs in their spare time. It'll be a little like luck of the draw as to who has space, but just keep trying.

I might consider going to London for a month or so in september to learn in one of the studios. Would it be OK if I send you a private message to ask for the names of these studios? First I would like to try if I can find a retoucher in my area (Yorkshire) that can give me a one on one training.

Leeds used to be a real hotbed of prepress activity where you may find a core of expertise and/or future clients! Also check out www.mch.co.uk for a list of photographers, designers etc in your area.

Technically he wasn't my client as I did him post morten (omg that sounds so weird!)

Just when I was beginning to consider attending, after so many recomendations in this thread I remembered that I can't on those dates because my parents will be visiting me in the UK for the first time. I do hope you will come back soon.
