Frank, cool! I especially like the subtile color combinations and the rotation.

Kiska, well, yeah, sorta... Your elements are similar, but so distored they don't look anything like the originals. For example, the ferns look more like grass. LOL

Here's what I came up with

I used different blending modes on the ferns and oil painting till I found something I liked then merged these two layers

I desaturated the geometric and placed it below the merged layer then set the Blending options to bring through some of the black from the design.

I like your version. Lots of color and a very interesting pattern. I like the way the ferns are so elusive in the center section. And the light and shadow on that center portion gives the illusion of some kind of organizm. An alien starfish of some kind. Neat!

Thanks Swampy. I didn't see it as an aloen starfish, now that I look at it though I can see it. I'm glad you like it. I had fun doing it...and now will do more challenges.

I kept it simple and just combined all of them

The final image looked a bit flat so I combined the image, added a high pass layer and bumped the saturation a bit

This was a lot harder than it looked at first. I'm impressed with what everyone has done so far. I ended up adjusting the pictures separately and then compositing them...
