Smile Re: Just a Yellow Texas flower.

To cool for words. Abstract eh?

Now that I have your attention maybe you all could point me in the right direction if I can come up with the right words to describe what I am after.

I have been floundering around trying to search out tutorials on how to add dimension to images using Photoshop CS4 on a Mac. I have noticed a few herein from time to time but at the tome I didn't think it was time for me to take the time to learn it. Do you all have time for this? Guess that is about the extent of my ability to use the word time in a paragraph. <<<smile>>>

Re: Just a Yellow Texas flower.

Hee are some links with several types that more or less illustrate what I am trying to learn. I guess it's Bas Relief but transparent instead of opaque grey or whatever. Never learned how to use layers for this.

Re: Just a Yellow Texas flower.

George (aka gunner )

you have really answered your own question
duplicate layer
bas relief ( or emboss etc)
change blendmode to either overlay ,soft light or occasionally multiply will work
you might need to fiddle with the colour afterwards
or another way is texture mapping here is Swampy's tut

Re: Just a Yellow Texas flower.

There are some fantastic edits here! Really gorgeous....

My not-very-good attempt is just fiddling - an orton blur, dry brush, fake smudge action and texturising. I think that was it....

Re: Just a Yellow Texas flower.

gunner,

thanks, and yes, abstract/cubist/whoknowswhatthehellthatis?

for high relief, or bas relief, or just about any depth type style, try using one of the 'surface' filters in filter forge, then go under the lighting tab and crank up the 'height' slider. it will depend on the filter and how it's constructed, but many of the forge filters can accomplish a simulated greater depth.

Re: Just a Yellow Texas flower.

Another go at the yellow flower using Impressionist for the paint effect.
