I played with a lot of layers and combined the ones I liked. I applied a yellow-lavendar mask. Used dry brush on final image and blended it back in with saved copy of adjusted image.

Thanks for reviving this thread. I missed it along the way.

I've been playing with background brushes for the PST and kinda like the "string" effect that I got. For this one. Here I've applied the brush as a PST with Impressionist turned on. Then on a layer above added back just a touch of the original background.

ok, my first try:

1) Filter: Graphite pen
2) Channel mixer to "dull" the colors
3) 3 different hue/saturation layers to add coloring back to rose.

Just thought I'd post this one of the rose painted in ArtRage. I also gave the petals a little smudging in Photoshop.
