What can I say: She's adorable, isn't she? Let's see what you can do!

Such a sweet little girl.

Of course, I couldn't just leave her in a room full of toys. No sir.

Sooooo...here's a little fairy watercolor.

And since I spent so much time on it, here's the "original" fairy photo manipulation that I put together to base all of the art on. Just wanted to share!!

Thank you both so much! It was a great photo to begin with...that's more work than coming up with a good interpretation. She's just a good subject.

Here's another one. I guess she just inspires me!

This feels like an abstract oil painting portrait, so that's what I'll call it.

I have to agree with everybody else. I love them all but I think the photo and the fairy oil are my favorites but as I said I love them all. Great work Themanda.

kudbegud...

An awesome interpretation. Texturing / framing are just right. Well done.

Amanda, I really love how you placed her in the flowers like a little fairy...ingenious! My favorite is the first one...the delicacy of the lines and colors suits the fairy theme, I think.

Kud, nice job getting rid of all that background and keeping the emphasis on this little cutie. Well done!

Thanks to all!

I am the father/photographer. Thank you all for the amazing renditions that you have created. As I mentioned to Danny, I am new to photoshop et al and I was very curious about the possibilities. Brilliant job everyone. My wife nearly cried when I showed her some of the various renditions.

Greg:

Hope your wife's tears were of "joy," not pain!

Seriously, thanks again for letting me post this pic which enabled more folks to appreciate it.

Though this section is more-or-less "photo-art" related, don't hesitate to poke around other forums and learn and ask questions and have fun. All of us at one time or another were Photoshop (or Paintshop Pro or PS Elements or whatever) rookies and I've found most of the folks who participate at this site are very helpful.

After cropping and simplifying background and applying some filters, I rotated the canvas 45 deg and added a gauze pattern then rotated it back again and recropped.

A Shinning Star

When I saw this little star in her red, white, and blue dress I thought how patriotic! I wanted to make her the dream of our future. She is beautiful!
Took orig. picture worked the brightness and contrast on her face. Removed her arm and flipped it. Layered the other American icon a teddy bear and layer it in. Changed the background with a blue radiant and added the American flag used opacity. Cut and pasted the “star” onto the new background and worked the opacity added a spotlight.

themanda,

Very imaginative work!

Myself, I really liked the original fairy photo. Excellent placement of the objects and the composition was simple and uncluttered. Seems you had a winner before the paint effects, however, all were pleasing to view.

#88 - Baby Peek

Here is my rendition of the little cutie-pie. She is one little sweetheart.

Did a sketch and drug it over the original and used a wide chalk brush so I would need only on pass to get the effect I wanted.
I hope you enjoy it.

FYI: David recently contributed his "sketch" actions, which I posted a little while ago since he hadn't registered yet. Check out THIS POST.

Pastel Illustration.

Dup, Xero's Pastellize, added noise, Flaming Pear's Pixel Trash, Dup this layer and set top layer to Multiply, merge down, set resulting layer to Value (GIMP again), Flatten, Neat Image cleaning, Impressionist simplication, some mouse smudging.
