Since I'm going on vacation and won't be back for a week, let's give providing the detailed steps a vacation, too. As a reward for so many fine writeups so far the how-to detail will be optional for this mini-challenge.

You'll like the colors in this one, which looks like another good candidate for Trimoon's watercolor technique.

I know we aren't required to give the 'how-to' list, but it's been so long since I did a photo art piece I feel obligated...

I ran a calculations command to create a new document from the red channels (with the gray channel added in with a multiply blending mode, masked, if I remember correctly).
I then copied the new doc and pasted it above the original. Masked out all but the colors in the trees and set layer to 'saturation' to desaturate the rest of the image a bit.

Layered the original pic, a watercolor filtered version set to 44% opacity, a levels layer to lighten it a bit (with the dark areas masked), and then the "new doc" I created on top. Saved that, then flattened the image.

Duplicated the layer, ran diffused glow on the bottom layer, then ran sprayed strokes on the top layer and set it to lighten blending.

bada-bing, done.

Blues_X--I like the tonality change you gave the image. It sets a mood.

My Trimoon watercolor CD arrived today This is my third attempt. The first two were so I could learn what not to do (you believe me--right )

I started with three images- the original, one with buzzsimplifer- and one done in PM artgallery Hand drawing. I merged the second and third ones using Average, then merged with the original. PSP8

I was just messing about with this one, and decided to mirror it, and then mirror it again, having previously increased the canvas size of course.
As usual with this sort of thing I can see things appearing (no I aint been drinking).
I can see what looks like a bottomless totem pole in the middle. (or maybe its ghostly)

There are some real gems in the older threads - just getting practice in.

BTW did you notice the Alligator staring out of the water? and what other creatures can be seen? This was really weird when I first seen it.
