| | | PHOTO ART: Mini-challenge #152 – Seattle Skyline Guidelines? Give 'em a rest on this one!
The gory details optional, but appreciated if you're so inclined.
Still, limit your submissions to no more than two (2).

Here’s another “mini-challenge” to play with in the Photo-based Art category until the next major challenge is posted here. The base image can be downloaded by clicking the link below the legal verbiage.

I don't honestly know the source of this image... found it a little while ago while doing some hard disk cleanup. Since I live about 30 miles from Seattle, Washington, I thought I'd share a little bit of (close to) home.
The Space Needle was built for the 1960 Worlds Fair and the view during summer months (day or night) is spectacular. The restaurant at the top above the observation deck revolves once/hour. A bonus: The food's actually very good, albeit a little pricey.
The monorail from Seattle Center to downtown Seattle is still operational and is a great way to beat traffic to city center.
Welcome to Seattle!
Danny

| | Created using action 7ART-Lines and Blur-djr from this collection: http://www.geocities.com/kafuensis/
I fiddled with opacities and blend modes a bit until I got this interesting (to me) effect. |

| | | Great skyline. I think the tallest building where I live is 3 stories.
Danny--That's a nice effect. It puts me in mind of twilight when the lights are just coming on.
Don--I like both. The metal version has an elegant look that I really like.
1. make 3 dups of the background
2. on the bottom copy, lighten the image and the run filter--artistic--fresco
3. Next layer up. Buzz--pure color followed by simplifier 3 (all around 100) Overlay mode
4. 3 copy of original--pin light mode
5. Add a pattern fill layer in soft light for texture. |

| | | Don, i like your first submission. Other submissions are also great, a lot of artistic effort.
My version is not really so much of art, but i tried to remove the photographic look a little. This is my first submission to mini challenges.
1)duplicate background,saturation layer-merge hue mode.
2)duplicate background,edge detect,merge subtract mode.

| | | Seattle Skyline Thanks for such a good starting photo!
Danny - I like the effect you achieved that emphasized the light and lines of the picture.
Don - I like the excitement of your rendition. Makes me want to go downtown this week!
Cheryl - I like the colors offset with the white areas. It makes the colors more vibrant.
svsg - I like the effect you achieved that reminds me of sunset in the city.
The list for my pic:
1. Adjusted brightness and contrast
2. Adjusted hue and saturation
3. Chose colored pen
4. Chose vibrant, red, and green 10% lighting
5. Chose weathered effect
6. Adjusted brightness and contrast. |

the orange hue on the leaves makes it look like a totally different season of the year. |

| | | Re: PHOTO ART: Mini-challenge #152 – Seattle Skyline Well now I know who is Sleepless in Seattle (well fairly close)
What this pic lacks is a UFO, it looks like a Star Trek (Next Generation of course) background.

Peter | When I get the chance to "paint the town" I have to settle for any color I can get.
B.T.W. forgot to give you credit for the technique which I used on the skyline. You introduced it on this board, and it now has a lot of "copy-cats" using it.
Tried not to be too obvious with it on Seattle.
