BTW: I just read that Michael used to be a geologist before he bagged that profession to for photography and painting. So there is hope for people like me (who can't draw a lick)!

Yes I have a masters degree in geology and chemistry both uselss for doing digital photography. I came to USA in 1979 to stay with Ansel Adams, and Paul Caponigro in order to write articles for the British journal of Photography. I also met Elliott Porter, Beaumont Newall, Brett Weston Neil Weston and ended up getting a job with Phillip Charis in Pasadena.

THE Painter Wow THREAD was nicknamed Threadzilla by Bill Guy as it has had about 140,000 views so far. It is not really a QA thread i just stick up stuff for fun. When my son (Alex 13 ) wins a track and field meet or i go on a trip to Scotland or Mexico I often post a snap. So it is more of a diary or blog.

When my home burned down in 2003 and I lost about everything, I had amazing messages ( and checks ! ) of support from all over the USA and other countries as well, it was heart warming, it helped me get back on my feet.

For you retouching experts I have posted a doodle I made today with Photoshop and Painter. The buterflies and the dancer Ansuya. The circles were made with stroking a circular selection and h ehorse was repainted and edited in Painter painted from a piece of artwork I had on my computer. A larger image can be seen at
