| | | Re: ACTIONS, Photo-Art Photoshop ACTIONS: The Moth Hi I'm pretty new here, but not too new at Photoshop. I've tried my share of Photo-to-Art techniques, particularly sketch actions. But I have to admit that this one: http://www.graphic-design.com/Photos...il_sketch.html
is truly one of the best, you get a real sketch effect because in essence, you literally are sketching. Has anyone tried this here? I've been using this technique with great success, I'll try to post some sketches soon. |

Thanks for sharing the link to Tim's tutorial and uploading an example of your work. (I've merged your posts with a thread on this tutorial to keep things together.)
This is indeed an interesting technique. I tried it a couple years ago and like most methods one can get good results with practice, patience and on the right image.
If you have more examples using this method, I'd like to see them. In the mean time I hope you join in on some of the other photo-art threads. |

| | | Re: Tutorial (link): Pencil Sketch - Tim Shelbourn Just wanted to add: the book this tutorial is from, "Photoshop Photo Effects Cookbook", has watercolor and an oil painting tutorials that are equally good. The book is out of print, but you can probably pick it up used on Amazon.
edit: just found a link to the oil painting tutorial here and here

| | Re: Tutorial (link): Pencil Sketch - Tim Shelbourn Thank you all for the links, looking forward to trying the tutorials.
About the book "Photoshop Photo Effects Cookbook", there are 3 versions available on Amazon, two look almost the same and the third covers CS3. I'm not sure which to go for. Anyone got a copy of either one? |

| | | Re: Tutorial (link): Pencil Sketch - Tim Shelbourn There is not a substantial difference between 2005 and 2007 (so-called "CS3") editions. I'd go for the 2005 edition, myself, if you can find a "used one" for a discount price in the UK. Save yourself some money that way. |

| | Re: Tutorial (link): Pencil Sketch - Tim Shelbourn Thanks. I just ordered it used at a good price from the USA, of course it will take a little longer to get to me but that's ok, I can wait. |
