Trial and error is the best way and plenty of practice, Dont forget there are lots of friendly members here who offer any help required along the way
good luck and at times it might not seem like it but smudging is relaxing and fun

Thanks Palms, it may be a while before I ask for help as I am off to help lead an expedition to the Amazon for a few weeks. Hopefully I will get an image or two out there to smudge.

It will be a great chance to take some images. Unfortuantely it is an expedition on which I will take photos rather than a photographic expedition - very subtle difference!

That page won't play on my Mac. Seems it requires some kind of application that when I downloaded it there was an .exe file format for it, which doesn't work on Mac's at least not older ones.

Apologies - I should have mentioned that the version I put up needs a browser plug in to be downloaded to allow it to play and that only works on a PC. I should have made it a flash presentation so it would be platform independant.
