Topaz Simplify - what are your impressions? Has anyone tried using the line drawing portion of Topaz Labs Simplify in place of Snap Art or LucisArt for sketching? i just watched the tutorial where the turn the photo of red car into line art. The software seems to have an incredible amount of options to customize the style of drawing. Julie Last edited by DannyRaphael; 01-29-2010 at 09:00 PM. Reason: started new thread on this topic

Re: Topaz Simplify - what are your impressions? I like Topaz Simplify A LOT. From line art (color or BW) to watercolor-like effects (very similar to the defunct BuzzPro plugin), IMO it's exceptionally versatile and yields very pleasing results. One has a lot of control over line characteristics, e.g., thickness, detail, color, etc. Simplify is among my top 3 favorites along side Impressionist and Akvis Sketch. I "tried" to like SnapArt sketch effects, but overall none of the SnapArt effects from both ver 1 and 2 float my boat. I don't recall the last time I used it. I used the original LucisArt plugin years ago (rarely), but not for sketching. Ended up selling it. I haven't tried the newest version of LucisArt that came out a couple years ago. If you're looking for a top of the line sketch effect pluging, you'll find none better than Akvis Sketch IMO.

Re: Topaz Simplify - what are your impressions? Hi I use simplify for some backgrounds. You can create a painterly look. But i never use it with 100 % Right here The pictures was done in central park new york (no compositing) 1.jpg Heres a close up from the stone and background 2.jpg As you can see, you can create a surreal look what dont looks like the picture was done outdoor. It looks like a picture in studio. Not everybody like that look, i love it:-) lg Calvin

Re: Topaz Simplify - what are your impressions? Love simplify, but found I was doing the same adjustments a lot so made several into my own presets. Saves a lot of fiddling.

Re: Topaz Simplify - what are your impressions? The true words about SnapArt, DannyRaphael! And I totally agree that Akvis Sketch is the best. Though I like Topaz too.
