Spring River

I took this picture about 25 years ago and just now found it in some old boxes in the basement. After scanning it, I thought it might be a good photo art opportunity.

I know after that long some of the colors have faded. It is up to you whether or not you tweak them. Just have fun with it.

Janet

P.S. I haven't been back to where this picture was taken in over 20 years. Since then the area has seen major fires, earthquakes, etc. I would be interested in seeing new pictures of this river in Yellowstone National Park if anyone has them.

Hi Janet

Great picture. The color reminds me of the old cowboy movies I used to watch in Technicolor and Panivision, whatever, those were.

I Auto Colored the pic and applied a plugin filter called Redfield: XP Lattice.

Cheers
Dave

Way cool Duv.

This is a combo of palette knife in Painter and Oil in Art History. It is kind of wild and free and lots of fun to do.

Dave, where did you find that plug-in? Looks interesting.

Janet, that looks real good.
Seems that you didn't fix the lack of contrast of the original, so it ended up looking like an old painting. Don't know if you meant it that way - but it came out nice.

No I didn't fix the contrast, etc. I liked the moodiness. Suited my mood today.

Thanks for the compliment.

Thanks Dave.
There's a lot of interesting stuff there.
Shame I'll still have to wait a few more days to be able to "download".

Texture, texture...

Used the 10 min Toolkit to tweak to taste (including Double Size);
Then combined three different texturing effects just to see....
1) Mehdi local equalization;
2) Filter>Other>Custom (1 pixel Laplace);
3) USM
Mixed and blended until I like the outcome.

Thanks, Janet. That was fun,

Wow--Janet, what a pretty picture! I've never been to Yellowstone, but always wanted to--it looks beautiful.

byRo--LOVE your result!! And thank you for the 10 minute toolkit...I just downloaded it.

Duv--very nice, I love the vivid coloring too. Thanks for the link to the plugins!

Here's my version too...
1-adjust levels, hue & saturation on a dup layer
2-dup of layer in step 1, filter>stylize>find edges, set to soft light
3-dup of layer in step 1, impressionist filter: pencil sketch, soft detailed set to soft light

I just got the impressionist filter but already I love it! There are sooooooo many variations though...I'll probably never get to see them all! LOL

Thanks again Janet for the fun pic!

I tried for a combination of effects on this one and enjoyed the journey from start to finish.

Everyone's a pleasure to look at, but I esp. like malia01us's.
For mine I used gradient map (light spectrum), paint engine, buzz simp1, and image adjs channel mixer, levels, brightness-contr, and burn and dodge tools. Layer palette included.

Hey,
Reminds me of places I've been and wished that I were still. Here is my attempt. All Photoshop CS. No record of what steps, still working on that.

George of Texas

My second attempt at this one.
P.S. Oh, Austin, Texas, where I live has an
enormous bat (Mexican Freetail) colony living under the
congress avenue bridge. So I was glad to
see the "Bat" smiley.
