| | | Bob, thank you for mentioning this book. It looks like something I would love, because it uses both digital art techniques and traditional techniques, and I'm keeping an eye out for the best price. |

| | I know, Danny. You and I have bid against one another at least once on Ebay I always check online first, and I've bought some books from Amazon.com. They even have used issues for sale. |

I had an opportunity to browse through this book for about a minute the other night at a local Barnes and Noble bookstore. As noted in the DPReview thread the author of this book makes heavy use of Studio Artist, a Mac-only application.
Even so I found the content and examples interesting and look forward to plowing through the book in more detail. Once I'm finished, I'm sure I will sell it at Half.com!

| | Yeah, Danny, what is it they say about great minds thinking alike? Only my mind doesn't fit into that category.
Did you buy the book? I need to go browse through it at Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. If I buy from a "brick and mortar bookstore", it's always the latter because I can't afford the "membership" fee @ B&N.
I've bought some books @ Half.com, always got bargains. A site that I use a lot to check on prices is allbookstores.com
I don't have a Mac, so that might be the deciding factor here. |

| | | Don't need a Mac I've read thru about half the book now - and even tho the author uses one and Studio Artist - I don't think that is a limiting factor.
Many/most of the techniques included can be done w Photoshop and a pc... or probably Paint Shop Pro too
Still best to find the book at a local store and look thru it to see if the techniques interest you
Regards

Yep... used.
re: BN and member fees
I can relate. I frequently browse at BN, but seldom purchase new books there.
During my brief browse of this book, I noticed there were some Photoshop (only) methods. Even though I'm a PC guy, too, I bought it in spite of the Studio Artist references. I expect to recoup most of my investment when I eventually turn the book over (sell it). |

| Omigosh, Danny, I thought I was the only rascal who did that. I hope B&N is listening. That membership fee is just too high.
This week is already pretty well used up, but I'm going next week to try and find the book to browse. Wish I had a next door neighbor like you, and we could take turns buying digital art books. |

Just noticed as of the moment there's one being offered for $17.99 -- a pretty sweet deal compared to full retail of $29.95.
Yeah, having a neighbor like you = neither one of us would get any work done. Wouldn't THAT be fun: All hobby, no work! |

| | Photo Art Book I am also addicted to any kind of photo art book like this. I ordered it from Amazon 3 weeks ago so it should arrive soon. It listed as a used book new condition and I got for $16.70 USD. As I use Studio Artist on almost everything I do it should be interesting. You should be able to use Painter instead to create simular effects. |
